Lots of reunions, squeals, hugs and High Fives mixed with a good portion of excited and nervous smiles here and there are what characterized Birkerød Gymnasium, STX, HF, IB and boarding school during the first week of the school year.

And so, the day arrived. Friday, June 27th, 2025, was all about youth, and it is with both heartfelt joy and a touch of sadness that we once again celebrated all of BG’s graduates – all 388 of them! – in Birkerød Multi Hall.

The day after a festive graduation party and the final exams, there was a strong need for some relaxation – and that’s exactly what the restaurant, cultural venue, and concert hall Mantziusgården offered BG’s many graduates on Wednesday, June 25, the day before the big graduation ceremony.

Finally it was time to put on the fabled graduate hat! The hallways are trembling with nervousness and excitement these days. Now we have reached the final exams, and things are busy at Birkerød Gymnasium.

The last week at BG is not just a sentence that describes the end of the year. It is a period filled with hard work, nervousness, events and traditions. During the last week, we celebrate the culmination of several years of hard work on both a human and professional level, for both students and teachers! IN THE LAST WEEK, we also say goodbye,to students and teachers.

Congratulations to all this year’s 134 IB graduates! The IB hat ceremony featured a farewell speech dedicated to the class of 2025 by IB coordinator Christina Rye Tarp and wise words from Principal Claus Campeotto, who emphasized that although the world has changed dramatically, we must all remember what we each can do to bring about positive change.

The purpose of a study trip must be to broaden the students' horizons. This can easily happen close to us. Hamburg is not at the top of the wish list for many students, and a bit of skepticism was evident among the students in 2.Y to begin with.

When you type “Kiruna” into the search box on Google and look at the pictures of the city that pop up, you don’t exactly think that it should be your next travel destination. Yes, you probably wonder how an industrialized, freezing, slushy mining town in northern Sweden can be interesting in any way.

Birkerød Gymnasium has been the main driving force in organizing the Danish Physics Olympiad since many years. Some of the school's current and former physics teachers create the tasks that high school students from all over Denmark must solve to qualify in an elimination race.

At the end of March, 2b at Birkerød Gymnasium went on an exchange to Taiwan and visited Yanping High School in Taipei. 20 students from Yanping High School had already visited BG in August, so it was with great joy and excitement that the students were going to see the Taiwanese students again.

What does democracy mean for young people in a society where monarchy and popular rule coexist? In Morocco, where since 2011, following the Arab Spring, there has been increased focus on citizen involvement and rights through reforms, many young people experience democracy not just as a political system – but as a way of life.

Once a year, BG’s samlingssal turns into a buzzing art gallery as the 3u Visual Arts students prepare for their final exams, where they are required to exhibit and present their work.

On Wednesday, April 2, 2025, Birkerød Gymnasium, HF, IB and boarding school had the pleasure of having a visit from associate professor Søren Brinch from SDU. Søren gave a guest lecture to all HF students on the topic of personal development and leadership development in an interpersonal perspective.

On April 1, 2025, 3.A had an exciting and educational acting class, where we were visited by actor Maja Juhlin, who has many years of experience from the theater. The teaching focused on William Shakespeare and his famous tragedy, Macbeth.

2t visiting the Future Workshop - The Empty Chair. The future is one of those things that no one can promise or tell us about with certainty. It can be exciting and hopeful, but it can also be uncertain and scary.

What is an international school without its own cookbook? As international students at an international school, we have had the opportunity to experience new cultures through our fellow students.

When we reached the end of February and received an email about the opening of applications for the Coffee Ball Class of 2025, 3.k quickly agreed that the task was right up our alley. Our high school years have been characterized by great involvement in the school's many committees, and responsibility has never been a burden - on the contrary.

What does it take to write an excellent speech? Ask Carl Louis from 1i! He, along with the rest of his classmates, has spent the last few weeks learning about speechwriting, famous speeches and rhetorics in Danish class. At the end the unit, everyone wrote a speech and sent it off to the Nordic Speech Festival competition. To Carl Louis’ big surprise, his speech was chosen as one of the 20 best (out of 800!) speeches from young people all over Denmark.

A huge thank you to the Kaffebal class, 3k, for creating a truly magical evening. As tradition dictates, the ball began with a special event for the graduating classes. The red carpet was rolled out, glasses were filled with welcome drinks, accompanied by piano music from Valeriia Dovzhuk of 2u and live music from, among others, 3d Music A.

BIGMUN, Birkerød Gymnasium Model United Nations, is Birkerød Gymnasium’s annual UN role-playing conference for students. Each year, the conference gathers over 300 students from all over the world. The role-play lasts for five days and is a realistic simulation of the actual UN, complete with a dress code, an opening ceremony, a general assembly, committees, a security council, and country delegations.
